Diet Food
There are many items on the market that can be considered Diet Food to the average consumer. If you know what you are doing you can make any meal a diet meal. Depending on the actual type of diet you are going to commit to, the Diet Food will of course have to vary.
Most people have the idea that diet is a typical lettuce salad with the exception of some cottage cheese and an occasional piece of chicken or fish, where in actuality diet cuisine can be made from any menu. With a few substitutions even meals such as barbecued ribs and potato salad can be turned into Diet Food.
For example using a sugar substitute instead of regular sugar, brown rice in place of white, lemon juice instead of salad dressing can cut calories and create many delicious ways to diet.
Food and Diet Supplements
Years ago there was just salad and a few other choice items, now there is more of a variety of items that are to be considered diet cuisine that it is sometimes difficult to make a single choice. There are protein shakes and bars that have different formulas including more protein, and formulas involving more or less carbohydrates depending on your individual needs. There are sugar free bars and shakes or perhaps just less sugar.
The combinations seem to be endless but in any case with supplements a person can also buy liquid drinks that will provide the total nutritional value per day for a person who cannot actually ingest food at all. Many hospitals and retirement homes rely heavily on these types of supplemental drinks.
Packaged Food
Other diet foods are prepackaged and are measured to have a total of 200-300 calories; they are also frozen and are microwavable. Some people may choose to buy them a week worth a time, or perhaps just for the lunchtime meal. Many diet plans have the pre made food recipes and it is available at the Weight Loss Programs centre. These items also include a variety of diet meals such as soups, breakfast items and cereals, and main courses.
Organic Diet Food
A very large number of foods are available in the natural and organic isle of the grocery store. These items are specialty products geared for people with food allergies and restricted formulas. For instance a person with high blood pressure may be instructed by their doctor to purchase foods lower in sodium. We would consider this a cuisine but in actuality everything has become in a way restricted from certain by-products and additives.
In the past it wasn’t unusual to have incorporated harmful ingredients in our food products, as we learn the importance of the chemical makeup and gain knowledge of the adverse affects from them we as a cultural are more inclined to be selective. Not only are we more careful about the harmful chemicals that have put our environment at a risk for future generations, but we are saving ourselves generations of sickness brought on by those chemicals by finding alternatives in our so called Diet Food.
Products which are considered organic by the government standards may also be considered Diet cuisine but indeed they are not, the facts are that they are grown and cultivated and/or slaughtered in a natural way. The use of hormones and pesticides are not permitted and the foods must pass organic specifications.
For instance free range eggs simply means, from chickens that are allowed to roam free. You may consider the chicken a Diet Food until it is at the dinner table where it may show up fried and that would change everything.
