When you find out that you are expecting a baby the first thing on your mind is how you can help to make this pregnancy a delightful one for you and your new baby. One of the first things to consider is the Pregnancy Diet. There are numerous factors to consider when you are having a baby. The most important of these a Pregnancy Diet to keep you well while the baby takes nutrients from you so called baby diet.

Some of the consequences of poor nutrition while pregnant are, hair loss, teeth may become loose or rotted; skin may develop acne or eczema. These are just a few examples of the adverse side effects of poor Pregnancy Nutrition during pregnancy. You can eat many foods to help you get the vitamins you will need to carry you through the months to come. Foods that are higher in protein are great as well as fish, eggs, nuts, whole grain breads and rice. Green leafy vegetables are a great source of iron, beans, and other legumes are a perfect source of protein and folic acid.

Pregnancy Diet and Vitamin Supplements

You should be sure to take your vitamins as soon as you find out about the new arrival. The first supplements are folic acid which will be at least 0.4 mg. per day. Then there is iron that is abundant in red meats and liver and things like collard greens this should be taken in a dose of 27 mgs. per day. Dairy products are also very important to the Pregnancy Diet and choices of milk and calcium rich food like cheese and yogurt should be approximately 1000-1300 mgs. per day. Next on the list is vitamin C which is found abundantly in citrus fruits, and tomatoes, brussel-sprouts, papaya you will need 70 mgs. per day.

Vitamin A should be taken, but not in excess and be limited to fewer than 10,000 units each day as this may cause fetal malformations. Your obstetrician can tell you what exactly you will need for a balanced Pregnancy Diet. Some things you should be care of are the ingestion of too much sodium or sugar.

The sodium may cause symptoms of high blood pressure and toxemia. This is when it reaches dangerous levels and you begin to swell sometimes to the point of being hospitalized and some results are even fatal like miscarragie.

The other symptoms are side effects from higher amounts of carbohydrates; this may cause gestational diabetes which could actually result in the taking of insulin. This diabetes may subside after the birth of your baby or may stay until your diet is more under control. Your physician will inform you as to what the procedure will be for your safety.

Pregnancy Diet and Exercise

Remember to keep in mind that you must exercise as well, to remain healthy and to ensure the good health of your baby. If you follow all these instructions of the healthy diet you should also have a good experience in the actual delivery of your baby, although this will not be an easy time but if you have poor dietary habits, this will not be pleasant.

After the birth of your baby you should continue to be on the Pregnancy Diet to be sure you are giving the best breast milk possible, if indeed you plan to breast feed.
