In recent years there has been a steady climb of people who have developed type I and type II diabetes. The numbers are actually astounding in diabetes related deaths, severe illness concerning the kidneys, pancreas and amputations as well. Studies have shown that while obesity is on the rise so is the risk of developing this dreadful disease. Of course as a society we are learning now to take precautions, there is still much need for a good nutritional program.

The Diabetic Diet would do wonderfully as a preventative measure as well as after the fact. The language of this may be a little confusing at first to the average person but soon you will master it and be on the right path to a healthier new you.

Diabetic Diet and Medical Practitioner

It is best to get permission from your family doctor or health care provider before starting a Diabetic Diet so that you may be supervised on your journey to a long and healthy life. After you get the go ahead, most doctors will be happy to provide you with all the information you will ever need to succeed in controlling your diabetes. You will be provided a monitor to check glucose levels and a full instruction manual. You will be accessed and some doctors will send you to a nutritionist to help you have a personalized nutrition plan suited to your specific needs.
This Diet is actually very good for everyone that wants a lifestyle change. Combined with Diet Exercise it is a win win situation.

Diabetic Diet and Carbohydrates

One of the key components this suggar free diet would be to understand how everything works with each other and how carbohydrates are absorbed into the body. Carbohydrates have a big effect on the levels of sugar in the blood, there are two types they are complex (starch) or simple (fruit sugars) a gram of carbohydrates is the same as four calories. Doctors are recommending that we should have 50-60 percent of our daily caloric intake form carbohydrates. There are complex carbohydrates that are found in whole grains and vegetables they are a good source of fiber. Nuts are very high in fiber as well as legumes (beans) and studies have shown that with Diabetic Diets the risk of colon and pancreatic cancer, heart disease and heart disease have significantly dropped.

Foods that are prepared within the limits of the Diabetic Diet are easy to make and take little time. All ingredients for specific menus can be found locally at the supermarket of your choice. There are different menus items that are allowed now that we didn’t have access to in former years, for instance sugar free items like candy, ice cream, frozen yogurts, and many other dessert types. There is also the option of premade entrees that have all of the calories counted and nutritional value already made out for you.

These are also at a reasonable price the local grocer. The health food stores and health smart isles at the market have a variety of different things that are  suger  free and carbs such as salad dressings, peanut butter, jams and jellies and a great number of delicious additions to choose from. The Diabetic Diet which was once very limited, is now the basis for many menus at home around the world.
