Zone Diet
Zone Diet
Most Peole think that the Zone Diet is just a spin off from the Atkins diet. Although they are very similar the Zone Diet focuses on a lower carbohydrate plan instead of the Atkins high protein diet. This may not seem very different from each other but here the differences will explain.
Zone Diet Meal Preparation
By preparing each meal according to a balanced amount of carbohydrate (40) and calorie sources from the ratios of (30) percent fat and proteins of (30) percent you are eating foods that control the manufacturing of insulin in the body. If you a person looking to help in the treatment of heart disease, stroke or diabetes, following this diet it will help you tremendously.
How the Zone Diet works is calories are monitored so that each meal is not to exceed 500 calories and each snack is not to be more than 100 calories. This is what is meant by “staying in the Zone”. Some foods that should not be included in this diet are processed foods such as lunch meat, hot dogs and anything containing salt in excessive amounts.
Many people that have tried the high Protein Diet and found that although the weight came off at alarming rates, the unbalance of the diets themselves made them malnourished. Some cases have been reported that where people have reported aggravated symptoms of kidney stones, gall bladder problems, gout, unhealthy levels of uric acid and kidney stones, not to mention bad breath due to the production of ketones in the body.
Zone Diet and Insuline
Insulin is a hormone in the body and when hormones are out of sync with one another, there is the risk of adding to the onset of certain illnesses, for instance when your diet is not a balanced one and nutrients are deficient. Cortisol which causes muscle breakdown is actually suppressed by insulin, in other words if the insulin is deficient from the reduced amounts of carbohydrates the Cortisol in the body could increase.
It all sounds confusing but simply if you follow the Zone - your body will receive all the nutrients it need to sustain a balance in hormones and aid in keeping weight off for longer periods of time. In a total lifestyle change, which the Zone Diet essentially is, you will be able to live on this for the remainder of your life with nothing but energy and a vibrant disposition. This is not true when on some of the other diets as they are put in place for rapid weight loss and it is truly difficult to remain on these deprivation diets and remain in good health. With this weight loss diet one of the worst things that can happen to you are, you may have to go and buy a new wardrobe to fit your new body.
When you are in the Zone eating out is much more pleasurable because you can eat all you like if you remember to stay in that ratio of 40-30-30 and order your food accordingly. Remember not to use all of your calories on one meal or blow your snack with too many sugary sweets. You don’t have to deprive yourself of the foods you love, just eat them in moderation.
Alcohol is tricky when on Zone Diet; try having drink of wine or light beer instead of the regular types of beer and sweet types of liquor. May you always be in the Zone.
